Renton School District has teamed with Walker’s Renton Subaru to help high school students interested in cars and car maintenance become automotive technicians. Walker’s is hosting our high school students in day-long trainings to provide them with an overview of the automotive industry.
Students, like Renton High junior Xzavier Frazier and Hazen High senior Bernardo Marinho are learning about vehicle maintenance including diagnostics, computer analysis, engine overhauls, transmission replacement, Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries, and more. They’re also learning the how to connect with customers and processes service requests. The goal of the program is to have interested students graduate from high school and immediately enter the workforce through Walker’s extensive training program.
The program is part of the Renton School District’s Job Shadow Network which offers students a chance to step into the shoes of professionals in fields they're curious about, connecting classroom learning and future careers.
This is just one of many ways Walker’s Renton Subaru has supported education in the Renton School District. For more than a decade, owner Dale Walker has been a major financial sponsor of the Renton Schools Foundation. Through his personal contributions and Subaru’s annual Share the Love event, Walker’s Renton Subaru has donated more than $1 million for school programs, teacher grants, and more. Walker’s is truly a community-centered business that works to support our students and families.
